Project Hand In

Due 12/06/07 – Actually – if you give me the DB on 12/6 in class, you can give me the paper by noon on Friday 12/7

(Follow instructions carefully, if you don’t you could easily generate 100 extra pages of printouts)

Required:

1.       Materials collected together in some way (NOT just a pile of paper)

2.       Disk (CD) with application (with your names on it)

3.       Complete Database Design:

·         Print the "big picture" entity-relationship diagram showing all relationships in one place (this can be done using Access’s relationships diagram). Change the rectangle sizes so that all attributes show.

·         List any functional dependencies that violate 3NF, explain the reason that you want the attributes that violate 3NF to be there

4.       Print out of all sample data

·         print the tables in as paper efficient form as possible – Probably in datasheet, possibly with some adjusting of column widths. Do not print via forms – where each record would take a page!!!!

·         there should be enough sample data to show off your queries and reports. If any table has more than several pages of data, just print the first several pages.

5.       Print hardcopy of all input forms

·         While on form, choose Print and choose "Selected Records" (instead of "All" or pages numbers – this is very important, otherwise you will get one page per record!!)

·         OR  Open a word document; bring up the form; with the form as the top window, hit ALT-PrintScreen; Paste into the Word Document. Make sure it is readable size.

6.       Note what values might produce interesting results when trying out the application (e.g. in query 7, “Show car and driver info for all cars with Make X, Model Y, and main body color Z.”, tell what make, model, and color would turn up at least several records)

7.       Very Brief instructions on how to use the application. (To save you time, you can assume that I am the audience – no need to explain database concepts or general info about the application – just tell me where to go for what. (and any special methods of doing things). I don't want to wade through a bunch of text, but I want to be able to find each of the key parts of the project. One or two pages should be sufficient. Bullets could be the way to go.

8.       Fill in worksheet listing in as specific a manner as possible what part(s) of the project each person was responsible for (THIS IS REQUIRED!).There should be one group version of this, not individual versions.

9.       Whether it is ok to show your project to future classes (assuming it is a GOOD example)

You should note that I am grading your APPLICATION, rather than your documentation package. However, I NEED the documentation packages; for this project they are to help me in grading and so that some parts of the grading can be done away from the computer.
